Congressman James L. Oberstar was among the speakers at the 2006 Toward Zero Deaths conference, held in November in Duluth, Minn. The conference, which drew more than 500 attendees, brought together transportation safety experts to discuss law enforcement, engineering, emergency services, and public outreach opportunities with the goal of reducing the number of fatalities and injuries on Minnesota roads. The conference also included the Child Passenger Safety and Safe & Sober conferences.
A summary report on the conference, published by the University of Minnesota's Center for Transportation Studies, is now available. The report covers all plenary presentations and selected concurrent sessions that took place at the conference. It is available for download in printable PDF format.
The conference summary report is a great way to learn about current best practices for reducing traffic-related fatalities and injuries and for getting ideas to make your area's roadways safer.
