Thinking of starting your own TZD coalition? The information on this site can help you get started—and keep going!

Get Started

Effective for 2010 grants, the TZD Safe Roads Program will replace the Safe Communities Program.

The Safe Roads model addresses traffic safety issues through a multifaceted approach known as the 4 Es – Education, Enforcement, Engineering, and Emergency Medical Services. Local agencies across Minnesota have formed TZD coalitions by partnering with others to address serious traffic safety issues in their communities.

Goals of TZD Safe Roads Coalitions

  • Reduce the number of deaths due to vehicle crashes
  • Reduce the number of injuries due to vehicle crashes
  • Promote safe driving practices

What can a TZD Safe Roads Coalition do for a community?

  • Achieve a more widespread reach within a community than any single organization
  • Provide a forum for sharing information and streamlining programs
  • Foster cooperation between grassroots organizations and community members
  • Help prevent the loss of life and serious injuries
