About the Event
Prehospital blood, or blood delivered at the scene of a traffic crash, has the potential to save the lives of people who would not survive the trip to the hospital without it. Learn more about innovative prehospital bloom programs from both a national and local Minnesotan perspective from a panel that includes emergency medical services (EMS) and Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) professionals.
Speakers
Katy Kressin — West Central Minnesota TZD Program Coordinator
Katy Kressin leads the charge for evidence-based traffic safety as the MN Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) program coordinator for the West Central Region and the project manager for the Traffic Safety Data Analytic Project. Her work is supported by over two decades of experience in critical care transport and emergency education, bringing a real-world focus to her goal of eliminating traffic fatalities.
Dylan Ferguson — Director, Minnesota Office of EMS
Dylan serves as the director for the Minnesota Office of EMS (OEMS). OEMS has been involved in providing support to ambulance services with an interest in pursuing prehospital blood administration and data reporting on this lifesaving intervention.
Gam Wijetunge — Director, Office of Emergency Medical Services, NHTSA
Gamunu "Gam" Wijetunge brings a focus on people-centered EMS and 911 systems improvement to his role as director of the Office of EMS. An OEMS team member for more than 20 years, Gam led collaborative projects related to improving post-crash care, the EMS workforce and EMS system emergency preparedness, including the development of the EMS Workforce Agenda for the Future and EMS Agenda 2050.
Dr. Andrew Stevens — MD Managing Partner, FIREMD
Dr. Stevens is a board-certified EMS and emergency medicine physician with over a decade of experience. Dr. Stevens practices clinically at M Health Ridges, is chair of the Minnesota Office of EMS Physician Advisory Council, medical director of FirstDue, member of the Minnesota EMS Medical Directors Association Advisory Board and professionally a member of both the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP).
